Soldotna Regional Sports Complex – Noon to 4 pm
It’s All About the Kids!!
At the end of January, hundreds of families from around the State of Alaska will be visiting the Kenai Peninsula to participate in Peninsula Winter Games!
In 1976, the Peninsula Winter Games was started by the late Mr. Al York, a member of the Soldotna Lions Club. Mr. York recognized the need to create an event where local kids would have an opportunity to enjoy sports, games & kid-friendly events during the winter season.
With the passing of Mr. York, Mr. John Torgerson picked up the torch and, with the help of the Soldotna Lions and numerous volunteers, carried on the tradition. In more recent years, the Kenai Peninsula Tourism and Marketing Council facilitated the event, and then in 2009, the honor was passed onto the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce.
While the spotlight of the Peninsula Winter Games is on local kids, the community benefits from all of the visitors this wonderful winter festival brings to the Kenai Peninsula! We invite you to join us in this continuing tradition, building a strong foundation for future Peninsula Winter Games and leaving a legacy for our children.
This awesome winter event has drawn families from all over to Soldotna, Alaska and includes family-friendly activities, games, food, and entertainment for all!
