Local Hiking Trails

There’s a variety of trail types in and near the greater Soldotna area that offer access to the beauty of the Kenai Peninsula; nature, hiking, and recreational trails are all available. Runners, walkers, climbers, mountain bikers, cyclists, and walkers of all levels are certain to find a favorite trail. On all of these trails, though, one must be aware of the chance of wildlife encounters. For more serious climbers, books and maps are available for purchase or reference at the Soldotna Visitor Center. Nobody should hike unprepared. Dress in layers; bring your camera, binoculars, bear spray, insect repellent, and GPS, just in case. Water is NOT available along most trails and sturdy, hiking boots are recommended for higher evaluations.
